Madagascar Plums

unwashed, washed, and enjoyed

Peeking at me from inside their bag

Oh YUM. I was so delighted to find these at the orchard today. I have been trying to find them for 2 weeks now and finally, finally today I found their trees, hidden among the not quite ripe pears and the empty apricot trees.

Their green-ish color confused me. They felt ripe--just the right firmness to softness ratio. So.....I ventured a bite. WHOA. The bright red color inside belied their almost sickly palor on the outside. And they are SO......luscious. Perfectly sweet and tart at once. I think I have found what plum tree I want growing in MY backyard someday!
