Little Miss is 9 now, and as is our tradition every few years, we let our girls (well, the ones who have HAD hair anyway) get their hair cut short to donate it to Locks of Love. I'm sure everyone in the world knows that organization, but if not, here's the link:
Basically, they use donated hair to make wigs for people who have lost theirs. I hope it is grounding for our girls to know that the reason they cannot have a haircut for a couple of years is that there are little girls out there just like them who do not have ANY hair. I hope they think of their hair as a farm of sorts that they can use to meet the needs of others. In return, they get a cute, chic haircut like this:
